The department of Special Collections at Tarlton Law Library houses a large collection of photographs and related resources documenting the history of the Law School. One of the most used resources in the department is a large collection of class composite pictures. In response to the demand, we developed this website to provide contextual information and links to digitized versions of the pictures located in the UT Digital Repository.
The site, “UT Law Class Composites 1884-1959,” includes an overview of the collection, a brief history of the law school arranged by decennial, and a comprehensive index of faculty and students appearing in the composites. The decennial pages link directly to items in the Digital Repository, which include high resolution scans in archival format (tif), smaller derivative images (jpg), and alphabetical indexes of individuals pictured (pdf). The Repository collection is full-text searchable; search by name to find individuals pictured in the composites.
It is our hope that this will prove to be a valuable resource for the University, the Law School, alumni, and friends.
