The Special Collections Department at Tarlton Law Library houses a large collection of photographs and related resources documenting the history of the Law School. As an ongoing project, the department and the library are digitizing historical collections and placing them in the UT Digital Repository for the use and enjoyment of the law school community and the public.

The University of Texas School of Law Buildings Photograph Collection is a group of digitized photographs from the late 1880s through the early 2000s. The majority of photographs are from the 1980s through the 1990s. The collection also documents the architectural evolution of the Law School Complex, which includes Tarlton Law Library. There are a total of six Law Buildings currently represented in this collection: the Temporary Capitol, Old Main, Pearce Hall, Townes Hall, Jesse H. Jones Hall, and the Connally Center.

The original photographs were selected for digitization on the basis of architectural and historical significance. Only photographs that clearly showed building attributes and evolution were selected. As a result the majority of photographs feature exterior views. The photographs document the construction and additions to the Law School Complex through the years, reflecting robust enrollment and an ever larger number of programs. For each photograph in this collection, there is an original master scan (TIFF format), an optimized master that has been cropped and straightened (TIFF format), and a smaller version for easy access (JPEG format).
