Transactional Forms

Transactional attorneys frequently use forms and examples as guides when drafting legal documents. Forms or examples can be annotated or unannotated. In addition to using model documents, attorneys often reference agreements from real life transactions ("precedent"). These documents allow lawyers to see what various entities actually agreed to and signed. 

There are two key ways to locate transactional forms relevant to your research topic.

1. Database Collections: You can find transactional forms in database collections that gather together forms or transactional resources.
2. Online and Print Publications: You can also find relevant forms by searching for online or print publications on your topic (databases also often include forms from publications in their forms collections). Some form books, such as American Jurisprudence Legal Forms 2d and West's Legal Forms, cover a broad range of legal topics. 

This guide provides information about where to find forms, sample documents, and related transactional resources in a number of database collections, as well as where to search for forms in online or print publications (in particular, form books, practice guides, and treatises).
