The Tarlton Law Library is open at this time with access limited to current UT Law students, faculty, and staff. Members of the UT Austin community unaffiliated with the law school may contact the Circulation Desk (circ@law.utexas.edu, 512-471-7726) for assistance with accessing library resources. Online reference services are also available. Please see the Tarlton Reopening FAQs and the Texas Law Fall 2020 Reopening Plan for additional details
Most Tarlton Law Library materials circulate to faculty for a semester. Materials on course reserve and in non-print media have more limited circulation periods as do other frequently-used resources. (Materials will be recalled if requested by another patron.)
Materials will normally be delivered within 24 hours on weekdays, or on the following Monday for requests submitted on Fridays and weekends.
The Library's document delivery service allows faculty members to have books, articles, conference papers, and reports delivered directly to mailboxes in the Communication Center or by email in PDF.
For more information about the document delivery program, please contact Joe Noel (jnoel@law.utexas.edu, 232-3801).
Tarlton is separate from other libraries on campus. If the item you need is at one of the UT Libraries, you must have first completed a proxy form (good for one academic year) for Tarlton staff to check out materials on your behalf.
Materials available at other UT Austin libraries will be delivered within 3 business days.
Document delivery requests for materials not available at UT Austin will generally be delivered within 2 weeks.
