CALI - Computer Assisted Legal Instruction

CALI (Computer Assisted Legal Instruction) is a nonprofit consortium that provides more than 100 interactive lessons and tutorials to help students learn the law across a range of subjects.

Stop by the reference, circulation, or computer help desks to obtain an authorization code for CALI. (The Tarlton Tech Desk on the 3rd floor also has CALI available in DVD format.) The code is also available online (UT EID required for login).

Once you have the authorization code, go to and, in the top right corner of the screen, click “Register.” Complete the registration process, which will require you to create your own username and password, in addition to entering your CALI authorization code.

Note: Do not use a Hotmail email address for your registration, as CALI suspends all such accounts due to spammer activity.

In addition, CALI's eLangdell makes selected legal resources freely available in an .epub format, suitable for downloading and reading on iPads, ereaders, or a computer. Resources include the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the Federal Rules of Evidence, and the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure.
