Reference materials

The Library’s reference collection contains materials of general interest (including English and foreign language dictionaries, encyclopedias, and directories), as well as a wide variety of law-related reference resources (e.g., legal periodical indexes, attorney and law faculty directories, legal encyclopedias, legal dictionaries, and citation manuals). Duplicate copies of a number of frequently used resources (e.g., Vernon’s Texas statutes, Dorsaneo’s Texas Litigation Guide, and Texas Jurisprudence) are also included in the reference collection.

The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (Stacks 203 and 424 – call no. KF 245 U54 2000)

The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation is the most widely used legal citation standard. Now in its 17th edition, The Bluebook is a lengthy and complex set of rules for citation form, which serves as both a guide to citation form and a style manual for legal publication.

The Association of Legal Writing Directors has developed a simplified legal citation system based in large part, however, on that of the Bluebook.
