The Library's collections include a wide range of interdisciplinary materials that support faculty and student legal scholarship. Economics, medicine, political science, sociology, archaeology, and history are among the disciplines significantly represented in the Tarlton collections. As legal scholarship continues to draw upon work in other disciplines, the Library's collection of materials peripherally related to law will continue to expand.

The goal of the Law in Popular Culture collection is to provide as broad a picture as possible of the image of the lawyer in the United States and British Commonwealth. The collection consists of works of fiction in all genres, as well as legal humor, plays, comics, pulp magazines, and feature films on video. The primary criterion for an item's inclusion is that it must either include a lawyer as a central character or have been authored by a lawyer. The collection aims to demonstrate both the public's perception of the lawyer and the lawyer's perception of the public.
