Borrowing Materials

Does Tarlton Have Your Correct Email Address?

Please double check or update your Library patron record online to verify if your e-mail and mailing address is correct. As a courtesy, the Library sends e-mail reminders and overdue notices to patrons, but the Library is not responsible for misdirected notices sent to patrons who have not verified or updated their Library patron records. Patrons may also update their patron records in person at the Circulation Desk.

How to Renew Items for Longer Checkout

To avoid late fees, materials should be renewed before the due date.

There are two ways to renew:

  1. Online: Most Library materials may be renewed online by logging in to the Library's online catalog, TALLONS. Patrons are encouraged to check the screen for information on the success or failure of the renewal. If an item cannot be renewed, a 'Not all renewals were successful' message will appear on the screen. If the renewal is successful, a new due date will appear in the ‘STATUS’ column.
  2. In person: Materials may also be renewed in person at the Circulation Desk.

Where to Return What You've Borrowed

Materials from Tarlton

All materials borrowed from the Tarlton Law Library must be returned to:

  • the Library’s Circulation Desk or,
  • in the event the Library is closed, placed in the book return located on the E. Dean Keeton side of the Library, outside the building's lower level entrance.

Returning Tarlton materials to other campus libraries may result in late fees.

Materials from UT Libraries

Tarlton Law Library is separate from the main UT Libraries system and books checked out from another campus library may not be returned to Tarlton. Instead, return materials from other campus libraries to any UT Libraries' book return or drive-up book returns. The drop off locations closest to the law school are the at the Fine Arts Library and the north campus drive-up book return (located on the south side of Dean Keeton Street between Speedway and San Jacinto streets).
