Kniepkamp, Hanns
Kniepkamp's Rechtsworterbuch : German Law)
The author was a member of the New York and U.S. Supreme Court Bars. The dictionary first appeared in 1941 as a English-German legal dictionary. He revised it and added the German-English section in the 1954 edition, and also added some British legal terms, due to "the present, apparent need for a dictionary of this type." Kniepkamp was referring to the Allied occupation of Germany after World War II. The Tarlton Law Library's copy was used by Carl Abramson during his tour of duty with the Judge Advocate General's Corps in Germany, following his graduation from the University of Texas School of Law. Kniepkamp's German-English law dictionary eventually reached six editions, the last appearing in 1974.
