Fallon, S. W., 1817-1880.
Fallon's English-Hindustani Law and Commercial Dictionary : Indian Law
|
| LAW & COMMERCIAL DICTIONARY, 1858 |
In his preface, Fallon describes his dictionary as "an attempt to supply the Urdu equivalents of words and phrases commonly occurring in business, in Legislative enactments, and in law proceedings. These equivalents are from the Arabic, the Persian, the Hindee, and the Sanskrit languages, which compose and constitute the Urdu." The preface also compares other dictionaries and includes a discussion of the Urdu language. The Tarlton Law Library's copy is inscribed by Fallon.
