In addition to his responsibilities at the Law School, Professor Mersky has a joint appointment in the graduate School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. He teaches the following courses at the School of Information:
Legal information resources and services - An introduction to the legal information profession
Legal information resources and services introduces students to the organization of legal information, the nature of the legal information environment, user needs and behaviors in that environment, and the particular roles and responsibilities of legal information providers. The course is designed to provide a broad overview of theory and practice in legal information organization, retrieval, and access.
Legal information resources - Information retrieval and research
Legal information resources focuses on sources and methods of legal information retrieval. Among topics discussed in the class are legal research resources, the role of technology in the use of resources, trends in providing access to those resources, and the integration of those resources (and the information they contain) into other applications in the legal environment.
