At the Wake Forest Law Review’s symposium on Marbury v. Madison, Oct. 4-5, 2002, Sanford Levinson presented a paper entitled "Why I Don't Teach Marbury v. Madison (Except to East Europeans) and Why You Shouldn’t Either," and Scot Powe delivered a paper on "The Politics of Judicial Review." H.W. Perry and Scot Powe presented a paper entitled "The Two Parties’ Constitutions" at the American Political Science Association’s annual meeting in Boston, Aug. 31, 2002. Lynn Baker has accepted the invitation to serve on the Editorial Board of the Cato Supreme Court Review. Other members of the Board include Richard Epstein (Chicago), Eugene Volokh (UCLA), John Yoo (Berkeley), and Lillian BeVier (Virginia). Philip Bobbitt’s The Shield of Achilles: War, Peace, and the Course of History (2002) was reviewed in the National Review, Sept. 30, 2002, at 45. John Dzienkowski moderated a panel on "Multijurisdictional Practice of Law" at the University of Alabama on Sept. 10, 2002, which included Tommy Wells, Chair of the ABA House of Delegates, John Saxon of the Alabama Bar, and Professor Carol Andrews. Barbara Hines will help present a two-hour review of immigration law basics at the Law School’s 26th Annual Conference on Immigration and Naturalization Law, Oct. 23-25, 2002, in San Antonio. Henry Hu appeared on "On Point," a syndicated show produced by National Public Radio’s Boston affiliate, June 26, 2002, for the episode on "WorldCom and the Future of American Business." Hu appeared on "Noon Business Hour" on CBS Radio (Chicago) on June 27, 2002, to discuss corporate governance issues. Hu was quoted in the Washington Post, June 27, 2002, on the failure of banks to recognize problems at WorldCom. Hu was quoted by two Bloomberg articles on June 26, 2002, one relating to Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Harvey Pitt’s achievements and the other relating to WorldCom. Hu was quoted in front-page stories published on June 26, 2002 in, among other newspapers, the Los Angeles Times and the Miami Herald, on WorldCom apparently having engaged in one of the biggest financial frauds in history. Stanley Johanson will speak on "Recent Developments Affecting Estate Planning" at the Law School’s 50th Annual Taxation Conference, Nov. 8, 2002, in Austin. Brian Leiter talked about textbook censorship in Texas at a brown bag seminar sponsored by the UT chapter of the American Constitution Society on Sept. 23, 2002. Roy Mersky gave an interview to the Association of Magistrates of Rio de Janeiro in August 2002, concerning access to legal information and comparisons between the U.S. and Brazilian legal systems.
