Anthony Reese will give a presentation on online copyright issues at the Law School’s 15th Annual Computer and Technology Law Institute, May 30, 2002, in Austin. Wayne Schiess spoke on legal writing to the Travis County Women Lawyer’s Association on Apr. 17, 2002. John Sutton served as moderator for the Review of Litigation’s symposium, “Ethics & Attorney-Client Intimacy: Proposed Disciplinary Rule of Professional Conduct 5.07 (Prohibited Sexual Relationships),” Apr. 15, 2002, at the Law School. Gerald Torres and Lani Guinier’s The Miner's Canary: Enlisting Race, Resisting Power, Transforming Democracy (2002) was the featured subject on ABC-TV’s “Politically Incorrect,” Apr. 9, 2002. Louise Weinberg has been invited to give a talk on her recent work in a program held under the auspices of UT’s Continuing Education Department. John Fleming was quoted in the Apr. 15, 2002, issue of Texas Lawyer in an article concerning arbitration and possible legislative changes in Texas. Mark Perlmutter, Practicing Law—and Keeping Your Humanity, ABA Journal, Apr. 2002, at 58 (reviewing Transforming Practices: Finding Joy and Satisfaction in the Legal Life, by Steven Keeva). Mark Perlmutter will speak at the premiere of the film Scared Silent on May 19, 2002, at La Zona Rosa in Austin, benefiting SafePlace. He served as legal consultant for the movie, which is about four women who sought justice against a deputy sheriff who raped them, and which will air on Lifetime Television on May 20, 2002.
