Law in Popular Culture collection

To Kill a Mockingbird, 1962

The Library owns over 700 films featuring lawyers. Although a large number are the typical courtroom dramas one would expect, many have little or nothing to do with the actual practice of law. (Of course, one could argue that courtroom dramas don't either). The intent of the collection is to depict the broad scope of the image of the lawyer in American and British Commonwealth popular culture.

You can browse an alphabetic title list which links to each film entry, or you can do a keyword search for title, credits, or summary word. Credit and synopsis information are intentionally brief; for more detail, try the Internet Movie Database or TV Guide movie guide. If you have questions about the collection, contact Marlyn Robinson.

"Movies and the law - they have a lot in common. It's all illusion.
Whatever you want them to see, they see."
L.A. Law, 11/18/92
