Summary: Irish seaman Mike O'Hare (Welles), becomes involved in a dangerous web of intrigue when hired to work on a yacht owned by a crippled lawyer (Sloane) and his beautiful, mysterious wife Elsa Bannister (Hayworth). A shipboard romance develops between O'Hare and Elsa, but they are watched by her husband's detective. When both the detective and Bannister's law partner are killed, Mike is arrested for the attack and found guilty. He manages to escape and tries to find the real murderer. The dazzling conclusion takes place in a hall of mirrors where O'Hare faces Elsa and Bannister in a deadly confrontation.
