Kiss of Death

1947, 99 min., b&w

Credits: Fred Kohlmar, producer; Henry Hathaway, director; screenplay by Ben Hecht and Charles Lederer

Cast: Victor Mature, Brian Donlevy, Coleen Gray, Richard Widmark

Summary: Victor Mature is Nick Bianco, a small town hood who's trying to go straight. Arrested for a jewelry heist, he meets up-and-coming hood Tommy Udo (Widmark). Sentenced to time in Sing Sing, Nick cooperates with the D.A. (Donlevy), but the D.A. wants Nick to squeal on Udo too. That could be very unhealthy because Udo hates squealers, and he'll take out his hatred on anyone, even little old ladies in wheelchairs.
