Most government documents circulate for the standard 3-week library loan period. Non-circulating materials include reference materials, serials, multi-volume sets, looseleaf volumes, microfiche, and CD-ROMS. These materials must be used in the library.
Circulating documents may be checked out at the Circulation Desk by any member of the UT-Austin community presenting a valid UT ID. Non-UT-affiliated patrons should obtain a guest borrower card at the Circulation Desk.
Fines will be charged for overdue and lost documents.
The Government documents virtual library is a comprehensive resource for online US government information. The Library provides to its patrons access to both the Internet and to CD-ROM media which contain government document resources. Some of this information replaces documents which were formerly available in paper or fiche format and some of it is entirely new supplementary material. It is important to check the format and location information for titles found on Tallons. (Records will indicate whether a title is a CD-ROM or available only online.) Titles with an "inet" location on Tallons are only available online in this Library; Most online government information is not individually cataloged on Tallons and must be accessed through the Government documents virtual library. Documents available both online and in a paper or fiche format at Tarlton will not have an "inet" location on Tallons.
Contractual obligations require that many Library databases are available only to individuals with a valid UT ID or to UT Law School-affiliated patrons.
To use CDs, request the CD in the Government documents office.
