Tarlton Brief 1, 1975
Design by Rob Cogswell

2004 Tarlton Brief

For most Tarltonites, the Tarlton Brief's publication history is shrouded in mystery. While some say Mike Widener has genuine incunabula copies of the Brief printed in 1492, we are only able to verify that Rob Cogswell resurrected the publication in June 1975. Before that, it had been printed for an unknown number of years, but some calamity blocked its publication in 1973. Post-Cogswell editors of the Brief include Gwyn Anderson, Rhea Ballard-Thrower, Adrienne DeVergie, Rhonda Hankins, Pierrette Moreno, and Bob Nissenbaum.

The younger generation of Tarltonites looks forward to yearly digital publications of the Brief, taking for granted that this noble publication's pre-1973 history will remain a secret of the Law Library's seasoned employees.

2004 brings a bounty of entries from former and current employees - a gathering of delectable stories laid out like the bright, cool gallon drums in the Gwyn Anderson Staff Lounge during one of the Law Library's frequent ice cream socials.

The calendar consolidates a number of stunning intra-Tarlton memos regarding Library improvements, tours, notable visitors, and new or newly departed employees. In the interest of space, we did not compile notices of elevator downtime.

Finally, the staff publications and acknowledgments section brings together the publishing achievements of Tarlton employees, and notes their well-deserved recognition in the "thank you" sections of others' publications.

Enjoy!
